The Zurich Climate Resilience Alliance is a collaboration between humanitarian, NGO, research and private sector partners, working to build resilience to climate hazards in rural and urban contexts. The Alliance is powered by the Z Zurich Foundation.
Several key themes have emerged from the Alliance's work on community flood resilience over the past ten years:
Urban | Heat |
---|---|
More than half of the world's population lives in urban areas, and that percentage is projected to rise to two-thirds by 2050. Rapid and unplanned urbanization increases both the risk of exposure to climate disasters and the impacts of climate change, especially among the most vulnerable. | Incidents of extreme heat are becoming more frequent, more intense, and more deadly, especially for those whose social or economic circumstances put them at greater levels of risk. |
Urban and Heat Learning Journey
In 2024, the Alliance offered a 5-part Learning Journey where Alliance members and other DRR practitioners explored and learnt about urban and heat resilience in practical and interactive ways. The session materials, including summary sheets, full recordings and key short videos, are available for ongoing learning.
